After talking about Slowdive last month, I could help but use the early 90s shoegaze of “Souvlaki Space Station” as a starting point for a mix of more recent finds and obsessions. A bit Captured Tracks-heavy in this one… I saw DIIV when they played L.A. last week and couldn’t help but get them in here too.

Craft Spells

I’m loving the new track from Craft Spells, AKA Justin Vallesteros of Seattle. I’ve actually liked his stuff for a while, but I have to say that this track feels like a really great step for him. With its wonky bassline and delicate vocals, I’m really excited to hear if this is a shift in his music.

January Mix

I’m really happy with this mix, a bit of an homage to the new music from Manchester that the internet is so good to allow me a window into from afar. And damn it, it should be a good mix. It’s a new year, I’ve been switching between new and vintage themed mixes, all of which are the result of a good deal of research and noodling. I hope you enjoy this one too, awkward, painful, and torn love letter that it is.
