from the white album to the white stripes, there is a rich history of color in music. its graphic intensity is expressed in the paraphernalia: the t-shirts, the album art, the posters and buttons. shades and hues have the power to evoke an entire eras like the black regalia of punk. colors have become an inseparable signifier for bands like interpol or the white stripes who apparently never plan to put a color other than red on their album covers. and what is up with the guys who do the lights at shows? not the concerts where there actually is a light or multimedia show, but the ones where there is no coordination at all, where there is just some person at the soundboard pushing levers. why green at the chorus and blue at the bridge? so i leave it up to you to complete your own theme: what is your favorite color?
