The best thing I’ve seen all year. Interviews with Isaac Brock, Eric Judy, Jeremiah Green, Dann Gallucci, Doug Martsch, Calvin Johnson, Phil Ek, Rich Jensen, Chris Takino, Scott Swayze, Elliott Smith, and Pat Graham.
To say that the first two Modest Mouse records changed my life would be an understatement. I’ve poured over those lyrics, sang along (including an impersonation of Isaac’s lisp), confused myself with the time signature of “Dramamine,” and used both albums as a soundtrack to a cross-country driving adventure. I am still enamored with these two albums, and the thesis of Lonesome Crowded West (and similar ideas expressed on This Is a Long Drive For Someone With Nothing to Think About) probably had a greater effect on my thinking than a good deal of my education. Must see (Pitchfork-dot) TV.
