I had the mix up on time this month but I never got around to a writeup. It feels so late at this point that it almost loses its purpose, so I’ll just point out that I think this Barbara Brown (aka Barbara & The Browns) track is superb, and only partially because it got sampled for last year’s Diamond District album. Other than the Syl Johnson box set, the Kent collection of her 1966-1972 recordings is probably one of the better albums I’ve picked up this year, so why not end the year with it.
I plan to at least put together a list of favorite albums for the year, but I haven’t had a chance to flesh it out, so no promises that it’ll come in on time. I can tell you that the chance of Kanye making #1 is pretty slim. I wish I had the time to put together a “worst reviews of 2010″ list because there are so many terrible ones that I’d love to point out, and Kanye’s seems to be a magnet for many of them. And by the way, don’t miss Cokemachineglow’s always entertaining year-end wrap-up. That’s where I’ll be spending my reading time.
