I got some flak last year when I picked a fan-made video as my favorite of the year, so I’m curious what the reaction is going to be this year; where just about half of the videos I picked are either fan-created or unsanctioned. I wonder if they were able to pull off all the slow motion antics in one take, and if not, how many wardrobe changes were required?
05. Les Savy Fav feat. Bunny - The Equestrian
Bunny for president.
06. Kanye West feat. Zach Galifianakis & Will Oldham - Can’t Tell Me Nothing
I knew this song was straight-faced comedy when Yeezey tried to rhyme emphasis with sensative. Zach takes it where it needed to go - North Carolina.
07. Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
This would be my ‘outside the box’ selection. Fantastic.
08. Beirut - Nantes (Take Away Show Session)
If La Blogotheque doesn’t cut it out, I’m just going to have to move to Paris. Seriously.
09. Girl Talk - Bounce That
I know what you’re thinking… wasn’t I annoyed by this movie when Ethan Hawke got all high horsey in cartoon format? But this pulls it off well. And what better way to visualize Greg Gillis’ collage work than a student-achieved exquisite corpse.
10. Escort - All Through The Night
If they can get the muppets lip synched to Escort, why can’t they get all of the slutty pop stars synched to themselves? Just sayin.
