I distinctly remember, within the last few years, an assessment of the internet as the entity that would put the nail in the coffin of radio. This was a long time coming, mind you, what with the felony committed on radio by MTV and documented in music video format (thanks, Buggles). Funny, how the internets have managed (despite legal squabbles which threatened their ability to do so) to boost the power of radio and transform the medium into a more enduring format, able to surpass former geographical barriers.
A happy by-product of the internet/radio marriage is the resurrection of studio sessions. One might have thought studio sessions to be obsolete after “needle time” and with the passing of John Peel. Thankfully, they haven’t. And, if you haven’t already found your way over to Daytrotter, La Blogotheque or WOXY, I suggest you give a look.
