It took me a little while, but i’ve finally warmed up to the new Feist album. I think the problem was that between the amazing upbeat tracks like “I Feel It All” and “Past In Present,” there are too many slow and dull tracks looking to showcase her vocals. And yes, I already know that I love her voice. She is like a modern-day Billie Holiday, with these little touches of Chan Marshall or Cyndi Lauper thrown in for good measure. I could listen to her sing just about anything. Anything, that is, except “Brandy Alexander.” But there is still so much on there to love, I suppose my appreciation for the record was inevitable. Here are a couple joints from her KCRW set last week. The aforementioned (and incredible) “I Feel It All” as well as a new song with Kevin Drew, presumably a new Broken Social Scene song. Oh man! It’s good.
