dear cokemachineglow,

Your review of Two Thousand is about as well researched as one might have expected from The Today Show and only a Walkmen reference away from being as significant as an opinion piece by Kevin Federline on racial inequality in America.

1. Matt Stinchcomb isn’t even in the French Kicks anymore.
2. Did you even listen to the album or just take cues from the Keep It Amazed?” The songs sound totally different.
4. Where do you get “minimalism” from? With all those comparisons Spoon tracks, it sounds like you want them to re-record “Close To Modern.” You’re 4 years late with that criticism.

Hugs and kisses,

i saw them play the bowery last night and they killed. every song was better live than on album. i was thinking the same thing, how can these reviewers get it so wrong?

not to bulk up the band wagon, but the new lineup rocks. the last two times i’ve seen them play, on ‘the trial of the century’ tour and just recently on the ‘two thousand’ tour, are a contrast between night and day. while admittedly the new album comes through with fewer memorable melodies than ‘trial of the century’, it is just as well-crafted and creates an atmosphere more closely related to the edginess of ‘one time bells’ than a poppy extension of the second album. also of note: french kicks formed 1998, the postal service’s first album was released on subpop in 2003.
