A bit of free assosciation… I stopped back in New York a couple weeks ago and picked up a couple old cd’s from my parents place that were hidden away. I’ve always liked Lois, but mostly in moderation. It’s mostly due to the limited range of her songs, because the repetitive nature of the songs is pretty well countered by her incredible voice. I know Interpol tried an unsuccesful attempt at patenting repetitive guitar chords, but I thought that all 3 of these tracks had a similar sound, which is especially odd considering how different they are in general. The Meeting Places track is my favorite from their first album, though I have to admit that the new one is way better. But I love the title as a lyric, for being odd and long-winded. But its pretty much the only way to explain that emotion.
