Les Savy Fav : McCarren Pool

Les Savy Fav . McCarren Pool
Les Savy Fav kicked off the first of 10 free shows this summer at the formally abandoned McCarren Pool in Brooklyn. It seems all of Williamsburg and Greenpoint came out (after the World Cup, of course) to hang out in the sun, play some dodgeball, eat hotdogs and drink brooklyn beer. This sort of odd venue is obviously the type of environment that Les Savy Fav flourish in. Lead singer Tim Harrington did not disappoint the crowd with his ultra tight red swim trunks and (thankfully) faux sunburn. The band is not quite on hiatus, but not recording any new material, and playing only a few shows a year. They sounded a little rusty, the venue’s acoustics were understandably challenging, but played an amazing ‘best of’ set that lasted well over an hour. They ended up playing 4 or 5 songs after Harrington told the crowd there were two more, and then came out for an encore after he took a turn on the slip n’ slide. What a perfect kickoff to what should be a fun series of shows at the old pool.
