Freed and I caught them Friday night at the Troubadour, and they pretty much rocked our socks off (see, not everyone in L.A. wears flip-flops everywhere). But let me back up and mention that they recently announced the tracklist to their debut, which comes out October 16th. I’ll admit I was a little disappointed that all of the songs have already been released on EP’s and in the recent Daytrotter Session, but they are most of the better songs, and it will be interested to see how they re-record and/or master them for the record. Despite all the blogging on the Cold War Kids, including this site, I’ve only managed to give them a cursury listen. I guess something sunk in and I decided to check out their live show Friday night at the Mercury Lounge. Um…They were fucking awesome. Every song. They played with amazing energy, and I can’t believe these guys were playing before Sound Team, whose set paled in comparison. If you’ve been as stupid and me and ignored these guys as long as I have, I implore you to buy their ep’s and catch them at a small venue while you still have a chance! [...] […] Whoops.
