Yacht Rock
First off, sorry its been so long without posting. I took a trip to China and after I got back I didn’t have a whole lot of time to post. The China trip was awesome, and i knew it was off to a good start when the airport van I took on the way out showed up playing The Doobie Brothers’ “What A Fool Believes.” Now for many, this might be a signal of bad times to come, but fortunately, I had just been introduced to the phenomena that is Yacht Rock. For those who haven’t set sail, the show (podcast link) is pretty much the funniest and most informative homage to crappy music since Will Farrell taught us the power of the cowbell on SNL.

The first episode is the best, but episode 2 great too. 6 is pretty worthless, but 7 is a return to form, that profiles the use of a Michael McDonald sample 10 years later on Warren G’s “Regulate.” By the way, they introduced the concept of a “fortress of smoothitude” in the last episode. Sail on, brotha.
