There’s not a whole lot of information online about rx, and thus I am left to assume that rx is either:
A) A prescription of political satire for all of us. A joyride through a series of unexpected collisions of culture, the result of which is nothing short of remarkable.
or
B) In fact, George W. Bush’s own prescription for sanity by venting through his music.
Either way, the songs are just ridiculous. rx’s The Party Party is a collection of mashups and cover songs sung by our own fearless leader, George W. Bush. It is brilliant, and probably only matched by the video clip that lip synched Bush and Blair to “Endless Love.” It has been in the works for some time, and I still think the best tracks are some of the earliest ones; particularly “My Generation rx” (August 2005) and “Sunday Bloody Sunday” (Sept 2004). It appears that rx completed the project last month, and the whole CD is now available to download. The beauty is really in the the details… things like the laughter on “My Generation rx” after W announces himself. How rx managed to find all these pieces of audio and connect them into what sounds incredibly cohesive is amazing. They range in topics and feeling, and in all honesty it pains me to listen to “HIV AIDS.” It provides this sort of John Lennon effect: realizing just how easy it might be to make some change in the world, and you are left to wonder why it just isn’t happening.
