Rogue Wave’s new album, Descended Like Vultures, comes out today. I think its really great, and I can’t wait to get off work to pick it up. I saw Rogue Wave once while they were touring to support their first album, Out Of The Shadow, and I wasn’t really all that impressed. They had a Shins sort of feel but I didn’t think the songwriting wasn’t really up to par. In hindsight I think that they just hadn’t gelled yet as a band, and this new album delivers on the promise that I didn’t recognize. You can also listen to 2 non-album tracks, “Eyes” and “Everyday” on their under-the-radar myspace page.

It’s a terrific album. “You” is probably my favorite track, but “Salesman at the Day of the Parade” is also good. Actually, there are plenty of good songs.
I’m seeing Jens Lekman on Friday.=)
i keep going back and forth between different songs. they’re like skittles; as soon as i decide that green is my least favorite, i skip it for a bit and then start liking it again because i had been avoiding it. “catform” and “you” were originally my favorites. now i’m liking “love’s lost guarantee” and “california.” no wait, now i digging “are you on my side.” that’s what i like about the album… its an end-to-end burner.
i gave jens lekman a few listens but never got into him. i’ll have to revisit his stuff.
