Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!

They have a very good set and interview on kcrw

I know these guys don’t need any further promotion, but after seeing Alec play solo twice and the band once, I just have more and more respect.

I recorded the kcrw set and burned it to disc. Its been playing continously in my car for over a week, and I spend A LOT of time in the car. Can’t wait to see them. They are playing at the Troubadour, the same venue I saw Arcarde Fire. None of the bands that I’ve seen there since can hold a candle to Arcade Fire. CYHSY! is perhaps the only band out there now that can parallel Arcade Fire’s performance.

You mean just based on hype? The best show I saw last year was Broken Social Scene (that’s including the Byrne cameo at the Arcade Fire show). But Les Savy Fav and Radiohead are still my favorite live acts.

Don’t expect CYHSY! to have as rollicking and infectious performance as Arcade Fire. Band members are not clubbing and kicking each other during the performance…but its not as tepid as Interpol either…

I’m sure you guys will enjoy it.

[…] Freed and I caught Clap Your Hands Say Yeah playing with The National last night. Clap Your Hands was quite good as expected. After hearing a few live sets including the one on KCRW, I wasn’t surprised that they started with 3 new songs, but I still felt was a questionable approach. The band was pretty mellow with the exception of lead singer, Alec Ounsworth, who danced around while yelping and yodeling like a strained, barely comprehendable fraggle. […]
